Matevž Zupančič
With nearly two decades of experience at the highest levels of European and international basketball, Matevž Zupančič is a seasoned sports executive whose leadership has shaped clubs and guided their development into growth-focused and results-oriented organizations. His career reflects a powerful blend of strategic vision, operational expertise, and a deep-rooted passion for the game.
Matevž currently serves as the General Manager of KK Kansai Helios Domžale (ABA2 League), where he oversees all facets of club operations—from senior and youth team development to marketing, international relations, finance, and public affairs. Under his stewardship, the club has earned multiple awards as the best sports organization in its municipality, and he has played a vital role in elevating its regional and international presence.
Previously, Matevž spent over a decade at BC Petrol Olimpija Ljubljana, one of Europe’s most storied basketball clubs. Rising through the ranks—starting as PR Officer, then Communications Director, Sports Director, and ultimately General Manager and Executive Board Member—he managed operations across the Euroleague, Eurocup, ABA League, and Slovenian League. His key achievements included financial stabilization of the club, organizational growth, sustainability, and consistent on-court success. He also received numerous marketing honors, including the prestigious Euroleague Gold Devotion Award.
Internationally respected and well-connected, Matevž served as a European scouting consultant for the New Orleans Pelicans (NBA) during the 2022–2023 season, focusing on emerging talent in the Balkans. As a longtime Executive Board Member of the Slovenian Basketball Federation and current President of the 1st Division Clubs Association, he continues to play a significant role in shaping national basketball strategy and policy.
He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management and Marketing from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Euroleague Basketball Institute, combining academic insight with executive-level performance. Matevž has been a featured speaker at Euroleague summits and international sports marketing conferences, sharing his expertise and charismatic approach with global audiences.
Known for his dynamic communication and leadership skills, Matevž Zupančič is more than a manager—he is a connector, innovator, and trusted figure in European and global basketball. He has also successfully launched Blueprint Management, a consulting service designed to meet the diverse needs of sports organizations—offering flexible solutions both remotely and on-site.
